Wasafiri means travellers, which is a reflection of our a commitment to exploring diverse ideas, art forms and cultures through storytelling. We operate as a cultural house stewarding a body of imprints, initiatives e.g., sanaa alerts, and programs, some in active development and others in research stages, all designed to support inquiry, learning, and collective practice.

Our mission is to craft immersive, diverse and impactful content that explores the unconventional and encourages bold artistic expression.

Florence Mwendapole is a multidisciplinary artist working across poetry, painting, and film, with a background in Journalism and Mass Communication.

Florence has trained in art writing and criticism through the “We Make Books” initiative by the Goethe-Institut Nigeria in collaboration with the Society of Book and Magazine Editors, and in organising human rights film festivals with Movies That Matter through the Cinema Without Borders program, in collaboration with Docubox

She previously produced and hosted Africa Film Countdown, a program highlighting films and filmmakers from across the region. Peek is her debut short film.

Loui Terrier is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose practice spans abstraction, portraiture, still life, and other forms. His work explores Indigenous mythology alongside obscure esoteric themes, creating a visual language that is both contemplative and deeply symbolic.

As a producer, Loui’s credits include Leaving Isiolo, I Did, and Kids Don’t Die. Before co-founding Wasafiri, he established the Filmette Film Festival, an annual event dedicated to mid-length films running between 30 and 60 minutes.

The festival provided a platform for narrative and creative projects that exist beyond the conventional boundaries of short films and feature-length cinema.
